Those $ 1,400 stimulus checks are still arriving in the mail. Here’s how to spot them

If you’re still waiting for your $ 1,400 Covid Stimulus Check, it could be mailed out.

The government announced last week that it had sent a sixth series of stimulus checks. This time it included more checks than direct deposits.

Of the 2 million checks sent recently, nearly 1.1 million were made out by check, while 900,000 were sent by direct deposit.

The $ 1,400 stimulus checks were approved by Congress in March. Since then, the government has made approximately 161 million payments valued at more than $ 379 billion.

Payments are up to $ 1,400 per person, including dependents, provided they meet certain income thresholds and other requirements.

To get payments to people faster, the IRS uses a direct deposit whenever possible. For this, the tax authorities must already have stored a person’s bank account information.

For example, if someone’s bank account has been closed, their payment will be reissued by mail.

The IRS posted pictures that people should be looking for in the mail this time around.

However, not all payments sent by post will be paper checks. Some people are given a prepaid debit card.

Note that debit cards used for previous payments will not be reloaded. New cards are issued.

Last year, some people mistook mail sent payments for junk mail and discarded them.

The IRS released a sample image of the envelope that can be expected in the mail. It will prominently display the seal of the US Treasury Department.

Debit cards have the Visa name on the front and the MetaBank NA, which issues the cards, on the back.
