Pantera raises $ 134 million for its Bitcoin fund
Cryptocurrency firm Pantera Capital has raised $ 134 million for its Bitcoin fund, according to a Form D filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
The Pantera Bitcoin Fund Ltd. was founded in 2013 and was the first US-based bitcoin fund. In a letter to investors at the end of 2017, Pantera posted a return of 25,004% on the fund, mainly due to this year's Bitcoin bull run.
Recently, CoinDesk found that Pantera's venture funds hadn't done well compared to the S&P 500.
The Pantera Capital venture funds, which were added in August 2013 and August 2014, achieved a return of 46.5% and 15.9% respectively from their launch to September 2019.
Of course, that performance could have improved recently due to Bitcoin's recent bull run. At the time of going to press, the price of Bitcoin is up around 159% since the start of the year.
