Ethereum Genesis Day is formally set for December 1st

The biggest update in the history of Ethereum starts on December 1st with its first phase.

According to a tweet by ETH 2.0 researcher Justin Drake, the start of the Ethereum 2.0 beacon chain has been set for December 1st at 12:00 UTC.

The beacon chain, the backbone of Ethereum 2.0, is a preliminary blockchain that will run alongside the current network when the first of four phases of migration to the new network begins.

Yesterday, the Beacon Chain Deposit Agreement received the minimum ETH required to secure Eth 2.0's “Genesis Day” on December 1st.

All primary implementations of Ethereum 2.0 have agreed on the same “Genesis State Root” of the new blockchain – or on their exact origins in the code.

The price of ETH rose in anticipation of the upgrade and is currently just over $ 600.
