TIPS FOR PREPARING YOUR DRIVEWAY PERIOD FOR SEALCOATING

Sealcoating prepares your asphalt driveway to withstand extreme weather conditions as well as the damaging effects of car pollutants such as dripping oil. Sealcoating helps reduce driveway wear and tear, as well as reducing the possibility of cracks, brittleness, or potholes. Sealcoating your driveway protects it from the elements. This can help you save time and money. These tips will help ensure that sealcoating your driveway goes smoothly and leaves your driveway looking sleek, clean, and without any damage.

CONTROL YOUR DRIVEWAY

Initial assessment will detect signs of deterioration like cracks, potholes, and oil stains. To avoid any potential damage during sealing, it is essential to accurately identify and mark existing damage.

Your driveway can be sealed if it was installed within the last 2 years.

CHECK THE FUTURE

If there is any chance of rain, snow, and other inclement weather, your sealcoating appointment will have to be rescheduled. Take into account the temperature. Asphalt that is over 50 degrees Fahrenheit cannot be sealed with a sealcoat. Inadequate or incorrectly sealed driveways can result from not following these guidelines.

CLEAR THE AREA AND PREPARE IT

The first step is to clear and prepare your driveway for sealcoating. Clean the asphalt surface of any leaves or pebbles. Any fertilizers or chalk must be removed from the asphalt. The sealer won't stick if your driveway is dirty. Sprinklers must be turned off one day before sealcoating, and not again until the day after.

Check to make sure there are no scheduled deliveries. The sealcoating process will not be possible if your front door touches your driveway. Schedule your deliveries and arrange for another drop-off point.

Keep your pets and children away during the drying process and the application. If you have to walk your dogs, allow them to roam in the backyard.

PRIME THE ASSAULT

Prime your driveway prior to sealing. The effectiveness of your sealcoat application can be improved by priming your driveway. With a soap nozzle attached to a power washer or garden hose, wash the driveway and scrub it with a stiff-bristled push broom. Let the driveway dry and remove the soap residue using a sprayer of clean water.
